The Honest Food Partnership is a labour of love. Our mission is to make it easy for Co. Durham people to buy local and for Co. Durham producers to sell locally.
We are Co. Durham people, sourcing from Co. Durham suppliers and serving the Co. Durham area.
We are not only a traditional box scheme but also an on-line shop, passionate about the area in which we live.
We are a local business, formed by local people, working with local farmers, growers and producers and serving the local community. We are NOT a national franchise or a southern business expanding into the north and we have no desire to expand. We simply want to provide the best possible service in our own area.
We act as a single point of purchase bringing together local farmers, growers and producers with local consumers and aim to provide their produce with the widest possible audience, and to offer our customers maximum choice and flexibility.
We supply our customers with the finest local and organic produce and we have visited every local farmer, producer and grower ourselves.
We ALWAYS make it clear what is organic and what is traditionally produced.
The definition of local is "within 35 miles".
ORGANIC PRODUCE
The vast majority of our organic goods are farmed in County Durham - for us, the closer the better - but a small proportion comes from further afield in the UK and some organic fruit and vegetables do come from abroad.
Our aim is to source our produce only from local farmers and growers but there are limitations to the supply available. As more farmers make the transition to organic we hope to become truly 100% local.
We are certified by The Soil Association.

We have taken care to see for ourselves how each of our suppliers operate and we have ensured they share our commitment to traditional farming.
Helen and Mirrae work full-time within the business, operating from a unit in Spennymoor.
Our office hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.00pm.
How We Came To Be...
Once upon a time there were three hardworking women who all shared a similar outlook on life.
They wanted to ensure their families had fresh, healthy food to eat. They were concerned about the modern attitude to food production. They were concerned about the effects on farmers, local producers, the environment and animal welfare. They wanted to buy local. They worried about the world they would be leaving behind for their children.
They looked around for ways to follow their principles, that would fit into busy lifestyles but they couldn’t find a service to meet their needs. Everything was too inflexible, too restrictive or just plain inconvenient.
They thought to themselves, “There must be other people that want to do their best for themselves and their families but can’t find anyone to help them…..” and so The Honest Food Partnership was born.
It’s our mission to make it easy for everyone to buy local and to buy organic.
